Finding the Best Digital Camera

In the present times, numerous manufacturers of digital cameras come up with latest and upgraded versions almost each month to lure prospective customers, and the reality is that most of them don’t fulfill our requirements.

Most of us have often faced the situation and invested a lot of time and energy roaming in the markets looking for a good digital camera. After researching throughout the market we finally decide to purchase the best available digital camera with the configuration of 7 mega pixel, candy colored, portable with up to 512MB expandable memory of super hi-speed SD memory card. It sure seems like a great product and a good one to show off to our friends because of its hi-tech features. So we gather our total savings and credit cards to buy this amazing digi-cam and on the way to the market something catches our eyes!! What?? Another latest product on display, this time an 8 mega pixel, with built in mic and stereo surround, video playback capable, with 22 scenic modes and up to 1G expandable memory. And since our desire to have the best takes over, we change our decision and go for the latest digital camera. After a couple of month, what happens?? Yet another latest and upgraded version!! Another brand claiming to be the best!!

Its so confusing, isn’t it? After all, what is that by which we can decide which digital camera is the best?

Here are a few points which can help us determine the best digital camera to be purchased.

Mega pixels: This characteristic of any digital camera is the most important to be considered when planning to get a digital camera for yourself. The virtual image or the photo print resulting in the camera is quite a determining factor. The picture quality is directly related to the mega pixel of the camera, which is equal to a million pixels. The image resolution and clarity is based on this property of the camera. So even if you extend the picture size, the image will not blur and still be clear.

LCD Size: The LCD of a camera is helpful in framing the objects without the need to squint an eye into the viewfinder, and also comes in handy when you want to review the images. A few cameras also include the features for editing and image touch up on the LCD. The good cameras usually have larger a LCD for better performance and are available in LCD sizes of one and a half inches in general. The higher range and the top ones usually have LCD sizes of 2 inches and 2.5 inches or higher respectively.

Zoom: The digital cameras are usually featured with optical and digital zoom. The optical zoom is always considered to be better than the digital zoom, and accordingly, the higher the optical zoom the better the performance. Generally optical zooms are featured between 3x and 10x. Accordingly the higher the zoom, the better is the digital camera.

Memory card:  The memory cards of the digital camera are normally available in various types like flashcard, XD and SD, etc. Different cards vary with the digital cameras, as compatible, so always ensure the right memory card for the camera. Similarly, the memory space also varies and the minimum recommended is 32MB but you can choose up to 1GB, based on your requirement.

The best way to determine the most suitable camera with a good performance is to relate it to your requirements and your utility. It is not suggested to purchase the camera based on lucrative offers or hearsay. Always get a camera which you need. For your home and simple activities, you shouldn’t be going for a DSLR, and likewise you would not want to buy a camera for beginners if you want to be a professional photographer.

So, the ‘best camera’ is the one which serves your purpose and gives you maximum benefits, not the one with the latest technology, which might make you excited for a few days, and the camera is not touched and lies useless in the house attic.
